“Interactive Discussion with Stakeholders on Local Governance & Social Inclusion”
The event was started with recitation of holy verses, followed by introduction of participants. Focal Person from WAJ, Mr. Muhammad Afsar asked welcome the participants and facilitated the introduction session as well as discussed the objectives of the meeting. Ms. Sana Iqbal, District Social Welfare Officer was the chief guest on the occasion. Other participants include representatives from civil society, minority, transgender, and persons with different abilities, local level elected representatives, political and social activists. Ms. Humaira from Individual Land also attended the event.
Executive Director WAJ, Mr. Mukhtar Javed presented the orientation of Project and role of CPDI & Individual Land at national level and WAJ & IRIS and district level. All participants spoke on occasion in line sequence. They expressed their views on strengthening the local governance system and improving the participation of marginalized communities in the in the local governance system.
Ms. Sana Iqbal and Other speakers appreciated the launching of good governance project that will improve the citizens’ engagement in the system to achieve an inclusive and accountable process of governance, facilitating the all citizens regardless of their caste, creed, color, profession, language and religion etc. Participants agreed to work together under the umbrella of WAJ for inclusive and accountable local governance system. At the end of activity Christmas was celebrated with Christmas cake and lunch was served to participants.
